About Game Making Notes

Game Making Notes is published by Level Up Today Game Lab. We document rhythm-game history, game design, music and interaction through sources and development examples. The publisher is Level Up Today and the editor is Sinae Lee, who also develops CAT BEAT : Wake the Beat.

Sources and interpretation

We prioritize original research and official technical documentation. When we have reviewed only an abstract, we say so. We distinguish published findings, our own tests and editorial interpretation. Our articles are source-based explanations and development records.

Game recommendations and interests

Games are discussed as examples of specific design choices. CAT BEAT is identified as our own game in development. Its full game and the short website demo are distinct. Links to other games lead to their publishers’ official reference material.
